HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam workers staged a ‘dharna’ in front of Chief Rationing Officer’s office here protesting against the government’s failure to check the price rise.
Led by senior MLA, G. Muddukrishnama Naidu, the city unit president K. Vijayarama Rao and former Minister Talasani Srinivas Yaday, the workers sat on the road causing traffic jam for some time.
They raised slogans against the Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and the Congress government.
They said running a home has become a difficult task for the common man with price rice shooting up to Rs. 35 a kg and that of ‘dal’ Rs. 85a kg.
The rise in petroleum products had a cascading effect on all commodities. Yet the State government seemed to be least bothered about the plight of the common man.
A party worker Krishna Goud held a poster of Dr. Reddy highlighting corruption and how it has become difficult for people to buy and have food grains.
